On Saturday 12 April 2025 PACEY will be hosting a morning of networking and learning for early years providers at the Over Community Centre – Conference, Community & Sports CentreÂ
We invite Childminders, Nannies, Childminding Assistants, Nursery Manager sand Nursery workers to attend and learn more about key topics and practices.
With great speakers, a chance to network with your peers and hear from providers about their own experiences, this event aims to support you and the incredible work you do.
PACEY members go free (you must book). For non-members, early bird tickets are available for £5 until Saturday 8th March.

Speakers and Talks
Talk 1: Safeguarding reforms
Emily and Fiona will explore the upcoming changes to the Early years foundation stage statutory frameworks: Safeguarding and welfare requirements. This is the largest revision of section three in many years. They will discuss the expectations of safer eating practices, training expectations and the required responses to absences and recruitment. We will also share the government focus on child sexual abuse and the materials available to you to recognise and respond to any CSA Concerns. Â
Emily Scott and Fiona Fletcher
Emily Scott and Fiona Fletcher are Children’s Safeguarding Advisors with the Early Years, Childcare and School Readiness Service in Cambridgeshire. With over 50 combined years of experience working with children from birth to teens, both Fiona and Emily have experienced many different roles within childcare including the childminding and managing settings. As advisors, they are the primary trainers of Early Years Safeguarding training in Cambridgeshire to all childcare providers as well as working closely with the Local Authority Designated Officers and professionals from other aspects of children’s safety. Â
Talk 2: Reducing debt risk: Effective conversations and legal safeguards
Join Gary Harrison, from Morton Michel for an informative session designed specifically for childminders and nannies. He’ll discuss practical strategies to help manage difficult conversations with parents and establish robust policies to reduce the risk of unpaid childcare fees, ultimately protecting your business.
Talk 3: Supporting children’s behaviourÂ
Translating theory into practice, this talk will help you to understand and support young children. Anne will discuss conflict resolution and teaching children how to sustain positive relationships with their peers and Heather will give you some practical ideas when working with a dysregulated child and using a R.A.G. plan.Â
Heather Pearne
Heather is the the Nursery Operations Manager for Bows and Arrows nursery group, a charity group of seven settings in areas of deprivation in Ipswich, UK. Her role is to support quality, improvement and practice across the group, working with managers and staff to build on and develop their existing skills. She also work for East of England Stronger Practice Hub, supporting the childminder lead. Â
Anne Denny
Chief Executive of Bows and Arrows, a charity in Ipswich, Suffolk. She is responsible for seven nurseries all located within deprived communities, operating in these areas is an active choice so we can reach those who need us most. Annually around 1,400 children attend our nurseries, we employ circa 121 staff, and all our inspected nurseries are rated outstanding by Ofsted. She is also a partner in the East of England Stronger Practice Hub, supporting childminders across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.Â
Talk 4: Fireside chat
Charlotte and Susie, both highly experienced, outstanding childminders talk about their experiences of running a childcare business, the high and lows, the challenges and opportunities.Â
Charlotte Greeno
Charlotte Greeno is a registered Childminder of 12 years, with almost two decades of early years experience. She has two consecutive Ofsted outstanding gradings, holds a BA (hons) in Early Years and won Childminder of the Year in the Nursery World Awards in 2023. Charlotte is passionate about the early education of young children which she demonstrates with her inspiring interactions and individual style. She is dedicated to raising the profile of Childminders within society. Charlotte is also the creator and host of Mind That Childminder, a podcast designed to support childminders in facing their unique and often isolating role within the early years sector.Â
Susie MorrisÂ
Susie Morris is a highly experienced childminder with 16 years of dedicated service in Ely, Cambridgeshire. She works alongside her husband, who serves as her childminding assistant, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the children in their care. Holding a range of childcare qualifications, Susie is passionate about continuous learning, with a particular focus on children’s mental health and speech & language development.Â
Beyond her professional role, Susie is a devoted mother to three children and an active member of Lions International, where she contributes to meaningful community service initiatives both locally and globally.Â
Adding to her diverse skill set, Susie is a proud member of Team GB for Tang Soo Do, a traditional Korean martial art. She integrates the principles of discipline, respect, and perseverance from her martial arts training into both her childminding practice and her volunteer work, fostering resilience and confidence in the children she cares for.Â
