Meet our members

In 1977 PACEY was formed by childminders and still to this day, our members are the heartbeat of our organisation. Our members and the children they care for shape the charitable work that we do and inspire us to fight for the rights of early years providers to retain a skilled and passionate workforce.

Now our members are not only childminders, but childminding assistants, nannies, nursery workers and nursery managers. They are dedicated, passionate and inspiring.

Meet some of our incredible members…

Priya Kanabar

Priya has been childminding for 10 years and her dedication to the sector shines through in her mentoring work and promotion of her profession and peers.

She often contributes to PACEY articles and has written her own book about childminding.

Priya currently employs an apprentice named Jack under the apprenticeship scheme and revels in being able to mentor other rising stars in the sector.

Vicky Walsh

Vicky has been a registered childminder since 2009. She entered the profession because she couldn’t find a childcare provider that offered the level of service she needed for her three sons.

Prior to this, she worked for 14 years in the City of London selling investments for a large independent company, reporting directly to the board.

Nearly 15 years on, her business, Sticky Fingers Childminding, has gone from strength to strength, thanks to her passion, skill and business acumen.

Monira Begum

Monira is a Childminder from London who has followed in the footsteps of her mother in her role as a childminder, fostering a warm and inclusive family culture in her setting.

She works hard to build tight-knit connections to her community – networking with other childminders, nurseries, schools and supporting local businesses too.

“Shaping the lives of young people and having a lasting impact on their lives has always been a passion of mine, and it is what drives my passion for childminding.”

Belinda O’Hare

Belinda has over 30 years experience as a Childminder and is passionate about The Early Years.

She believes that working in partnership with parents and families is vital to ensure each child gets the best start in life.

Equally important is her own professional development which she continuously strives to do alongside supporting other childcare professionals to inspire, keep motivated, achieve and be their best self.

“I love being a Childminder for so many reasons.  Its the little things that children do that melt my heart, putting their hands in mine , snuggling up to share a book, jumping in puddles together, the list is endless.  Watching and helping the children grow and develop is a privilege and sharing special  moments  is just a joy.”

Amanda Calloway

Amanda’s focus lies in empowering children and instilling confidence in them with her Curiosity Approach ethos.

Amanda has been actively involved with PACEY in various capacities for over 16 years and her recent work on managing menopause received widespread support from her peers.

She is dedicated to learning the Welsh language and embedding this in her practice to foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging in her setting.

“I absolutely love what I do and I truly believe caring for children is my vocation. I just wish I had realised this earlier in my life and not wasted many years in unfulfilling roles. Being trusted to care for the children and watching them develop and grow is an absolute privilege.”

Annette Kingsley-Scott

Established as a childminder in 2003, providing consistent, personalised, inclusive and supportive childcare, Annette is also a qualified teacher, Forest School Leader and Early Years SENCO.

She undertakes continuous professional development and is constantly striving to provide the best possible homebased childminding and early education to those in her care.

Achievements include; Ofsted Outstanding grade, The Royal Horticultural Society 5 Star Gardening School, Lambeth Natural Thinkers Setting and Childminder SENCO of the year.

“The best part of being a childminder is nurturing and watching children as they grow, develop and flourish, knowing that I helped to enable each child’s development and celebrate their achievements”

Stella Esinam

Stella’s knowledge of the early years is impressive, with holistic practice underpinned by the very latest in research and evidence tailored to the children in her setting.

She has vast expertise in safeguarding and supporting children with SEND and was recognised as a SEND support childminder by Manchester City Council, providing specialist support to her childminding peers to improve practice.

“PACEY Support is a one-stop-shop for me as a member, this gives me peace of mind! Above all, PACEY ensures that barriers that will hinder Childminding Services were removed, for example the Manifesto for Childminders 2024  and Childminders Awards were very encouraging, I felt we had a back bone from PACEY. Thank you”
