Childminding Week: Virtual Local Authority Forum (England)

PACEY welcomes local authorities, organisations and early years providers to our Childminding Week 2025 event.

Hosted by PACEY Chief Exec, Helen Donohoe, and Kate Haythornthwaite, Childcare Works on Tuesday 13 May 2025. We’ll be sitting down with local authority representatives from across the country to speak about the work they do to recruit, retain and stabilise the number of childminders in their area.

PACEY is pleased to be joined by representatives Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Barnsley Councils Early Years teams to talk about what inititiatives they have tried to recruit childminders in their local area, what works when it comes to retaining passionate and skilled childminders and their thoughts on how we slow and reverse the rate of decline in childminder numbers nationally.

This is an opportunity for local authority workers, early years teams and organisations looking to support childminders to:

  • Gain insight into how childminder support differs in each local authority
  • Understand how specific initiatives have worked to increase childminders numbers
  • Ask questions and share your own experiences

This is an event to celebrate childminding week and recognise best practice. The link between local authority work/ support and childminder numbers across the nation is so important we want to learn from those who manage that relationship well and suport others to implement new initiatives and ideas.

Let’s make 2025 the year for childminding!
