Why has this toolkit been developed?

In order to support the sustainability and viability of the childminding sector in Wales it is important to have resources that can support high quality childcare and early learning, as well as champion the vital role home-based childcare can play in helping prepare children for a bright future. This toolkit has been developed in order to:

• promote quality childminding as a career
• promote the services offered by childminders to families and funders
• support quality improvement within childminding settings

How was this toolkit developed?

PACEY Cymru were able to develop this toolkit through Welsh Government funding.  We worked closely with Elizabeth Jarman, an experienced learning environments expert, and a working group of childminders in Wales. The childminders involved undertook development activities to support quality practice and improvement and these were used to generate the content of the toolkit to inspire others. 

​What is the purpose of the toolkit?

The main purposes of this toolkit are to:

• Promote quality home-based childcare practice specifically in relation to the learning environment
• Provide evidence demonstrating quality practice in home-based childcare to local authorities and other key partners and funders
• Provide inspiration, ideas and illustrate an alternative model of approach in relation to quality home-based learning environments to local authorities, Welsh Government and other key partners and funders.
• Give home-based childcare providers confidence in the service they are providing, inspiration and opportunities for reflection and development and ensure that these reflections are underpinned by evidence.
• Celebrate and promote opportunities for parental choice of childcare and early years providers

How can the toolkit be used?

We would like those working in home-based childcare in Wales to be inspired by the information and resources that have been developed and that they support the growth of knowledge and understanding alongside supporting reflection and development of practice.

We would also like to see the resources within the toolkit promoted by those working with the sector to showcase the work of home-based childcare providers in Wales.  We hope that local authorities, funders and commissioners of services will feel inspired by the potential of quality home-based childcare to support children’s wellbeing, learning and development.

Er mwyn cefnogi cynaliadwyedd a hyfywedd y sector gwarchod plant yng Nghymru mae’n bwysig cael adnodd a all gefnogi gofal plant a dysgu cynnar o ansawdd uchel, yn ogystal â hyrwyddo’r rôl hanfodol y gall gofal plant yn y cartref ei chwarae wrth helpu i baratoi plant ar gyfer dyfodol disglair. Sut datblygwyd y pecyn cymorth hwn?

Gwnaeth PACEY Cymru lwyddo i ddatblygu’r pecyn cymorth hwn drwy arian Llywodraeth Cymru.  Buom yn gweithio’n agos gydag Elizabeth Jarman, arbenigwr amgylcheddau dysgu profiadol, a gweithgor o warchodwyr plant yng Nghymru. Cynhaliodd y gwarchodwyr plant dan sylw weithgareddau datblygu i gefnogi arfer a gwelliant o ansawdd a defnyddiwyd y rhain i gynhyrchu cynnwys y pecyn cymorth i ysbrydoli eraill. 

​Beth yw pwrpas y pecyn cymorth?

Prif ddibenion y pecyn cymorth hwn yw:

• Hyrwyddo ymarfer gofal plant yn y cartref o ansawdd yn benodol mewn perthynas â’r amgylchedd dysgu
• Darparu tystiolaeth sy’n dangos arfer o ansawdd mewn gofal plant yn y cartref i awdurdodau lleol a phartneriaid a chyllidwyr allweddol eraill
• Darparu ysbrydoliaeth, syniadau a darlunio model amgen o ddull gweithredu mewn perthynas ag amgylcheddau dysgu yn y cartref o ansawdd i awdurdodau lleol, Llywodraeth Cymru a phartneriaid a chyllidwyr allweddol eraill.
• Rhoi hyder, ysbrydoliaeth a chyfleoedd i fyfyrio a datblygu i ddarparwyr gofal plant yn y cartref yn y gwasanaeth maent yn ei ddarparu a sicrhau bod tystiolaeth yn sail i’r myfyrdodau hyn.
• Dathlu a hyrwyddo cyfleoedd ar gyfer dewis rhieni o ran gofal plant a darparwyr blynyddoedd cynnar

Sut y gellir defnyddio’r pecyn cymorth?

Hoffem i’r rhai sy’n gweithio ym maes gofal plant yn y cartref yng Nghymru gael eu hysbrydoli gan y wybodaeth a’r adnoddau sydd wedi’u datblygu a’u bod yn cefnogi twf gwybodaeth a dealltwriaeth ochr yn ochr â chefnogi myfyrio a datblygu ymarfer.

Hoffem glywed gennych os ydych wedi rhoi unrhyw syniadau ar waith, bod gennych syniadau ar gyfer datblygu yn y dyfodol neu os hoffech gael eich ystyried ar gyfer cymryd rhan mewn unrhyw brosiectau neu weithgaredd ffilmio yn y dyfodol.  Bydd hyn yn helpu gyda datblygu adnoddau pellach ac arddangos arfer da ledled Cymru.  E-bostiwch paceycymru@pacey.org.uk neu rhannwch ar ein tudalen Facebook PACEY Cymru.
