On 30 October 2024, Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer will deliver the Autumn Budget 2024 setting out the Government’s financial plans for the next year, including decisions about tax and spending.
PACEY has made its submission ahead of the Autumn Budget 2024 calling for vital investment to support the early years and childcare sector.
In our submission we call for three immediate measures:
- Increasing the Early Years Pupil Premium to better support disadvantaged children.
- Improving the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) funding infrastructure, making it more accessible and responsive to needs.
- Removing the rule that excludes non-parental relatives from providing funded childcare to related children in England.
Alongside this, we call for long-term investment into the sector to address funding shortfalls and resolve early years and childcare workforce issues, including action to reverse the declining numbers of registered childminders.
